Do-It-Yourself Grand Piano
When I needed a half-inch scale grand piano
I couldn't find one anywhere, let alone at a reasonable price.....
So I made one.
It was easy.
So now I share it with you!

Cut one piece each of A and B out of Basswood, 1/8" thickness or thinner.
(I used an Exacto knife)
Piece A (bottom) will be longer than piece B (top).
Use template C to cut the side piece out of thick, but bendable,
cardboard. You could also use bendable wood should you
know how to
use this.
Glue side piece perpendicular to piece A, bending it around and running it
very close to the edge of the wood.
Allow to dry.
Put glue on the other edge of the side piece. Attach to piece B.
Your project should now start to look like a piano.
Cut a piece of 3/8" square basswood or balsa to length of D. This is
what your keyboard will lie on.
Cut a piece of cardboard using template E. This is the back plate to the
keyboard area.
Glue D to E long sides together and bottoms aligned.
Glue pieces D & E into keyboard opening on piano.
Legs:
Cut 3, 3/8" square pieces of 1/8" (or thinner) basswood. This is
piece F. These will be supports for the legs.
Drill a hole in the center of pieces F to fit the diameter of the end of
the leg that you want to attach to the underside of piano.
Glue the 3 drilled F pieces to the underside of the piano, 2 in the
front and 1 in the middle of the back.
Glue 3, 1" legs, of your choice, to the piano thru the holes in F pieces.
Paint.
Glue on a half inch scale keyboard from
http://www.printmini.com/printables/music/index.shtml.
NOTE:
I made most of this piece out of my wood scrap pile!
If you are really clever you could probably put this together so that the
piano top is propped open, as grands often are.
